Police in Midtown are investigating a wild incident that left two police officers stabbed and a suspect shot just 10 blocks away from the heart of the New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square.
Law enforcement sources said the violence broke out at about 9:28 p.m. on Dec. 31 at the corner of 52nd Street and 8th Avenue.
NYPD sources did not have immediate details about the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
Both injured officers were rushed to Bellevue Hospital, while the suspect — apparently shot in an exchange with police — was also hospitalized. Police sources said the officers are in stable condition; the suspect’s condition is unknown at this time.

«Homeless is a protected class because if you do what they do you will get arrested but they don’t. There is no such thing as homelessness when a board and room and food are provided because if that’s the case then a baby born this morning is homeless too because he doesn’t own a house. Mental illnesses is no excuse because we all are a crazy to a degree yet we don’t and we shouldn’t get a pass for breaking the law.»
