Suffolk Police Shoot Man Who Stabbed Officer Multiple Times

Bay Shore, New York — On February 17, 2024, at approximately 9:10 a.m., Suffolk County Police Officers responded to reports of a domestic violence incident at a residence on Udall Road in Bay Shore. When the officers arrived, 33-year-old Taiquell Woodson opened the front door holding a knife and a baton and stabbed one of the officers multiple times in the arm. A second officer then attempted to use his taser to subdue Woodson, and a third officer fired his service weapon, striking Woodson. Woodson was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The stabbed officer was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was treated for wounds to his hands, arms and face. The injuries were not life-threatening. Officers recovered a knife at the scene. Police said at the time of the incident that the officer was saved by his bulletproof vest.
