A meatball seller, Aven (48), chose to end his life in a tragic way. He was found dead by hanging at his home in Botania Garden, Batam City, Riau Islands Province, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at around 4:30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time.
As he was about to leave for morning prayers, a neighbor saw Aven hanging inside the house. Local residents immediately reported the incident to the Batam City Police. Officers immediately arrived to investigate the location, interview witnesses, and secure the crime scene. Batam City Police Chief, Commissioner Anak Agung Made Winarta, confirmed the incident through the Head of Criminal Investigation, First Inspector Bobby Ramadhana Fauzi.
"Yes, the victim was found with a rope around his neck. There were no signs of violence on his body," explained Bobby. However, heartbreakingly, before his death, Aven had sent a text message to his son.
The message was brief but heavy: "Forgive me, my son, for not being able to care for you until you were an adult." Those words were his final words, an apology that left deep sorrow for the bereaved family. Aven's body has been handed over to his family for burial.
