Chicago Police Officers Fatally Shoot Suspect Stabbing Man in The Middle of The Street

Chicago, Illinois — On May 27, 2024, at around 11:10 p.m., two Chicago Police officers were flagged down and observed 35-year-old Tracey Watson attempting to stab another man in the street, in the 300-block of South Cicero Avenue in South Austin. The officers exited their vehicle and gave verbal commands to Watson to drop their weapon. Watson failed to comply with the officers’ commands, resulting in both officers discharging their firearms, striking both Watson and victim. One officer then fired two shots before a second officer fired a second volley of around 10 shots and Watson collapsed to the ground. Watson was transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased. The victim was also transported to the hospital and was listed in critical condition.
